Pomeroy Robson Family History

This is a family history of Charles Innes Robson III and Clara Phelps Robson beginning with his Great Grandfather Francis Martin Pomeroy. Francis was married to Irene Ursula Haskell Pomeroy during the early days of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nauvoo, Illinois then migrated to the Salt Lake Valley in the first company with Brigham Young in 1847. Francis was also married to Sarah Matilda Colborn Pomeroy and Jessamine Elizabeth Routledge Pomeroy. Irene died in 1860 after which Francis moved to Paris, Idaho near Bear Lake. In 1887 Francis was asked by Brigham Young to settle a new place in the harsh Arizona Salt River Valley desert, now known as Mesa. They were joined by son in law Charles Innes Robson I and daughter Francelle Eugena Pomeroy Robson. They crossed the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry. These were two of the four founding families of Mesa, Arizona with Francelle as the first school teacher. Francis's grandson is Charles Innes Robson III, married to Clara Phelps Robson. Those of us who know these two wonderful people as Granny and Grandpa have remained remarkably close and connected, in large part as a result of getting together often to tell the stories of this shared heritage. Documenting all of this family history has been very important to our family. This web site is a way to bring together all those sacred and priceless resources. It is a work in progress.
